I am an Assistant Professor of Finance at Indiana University Northwest. My research focuses on two interconnected areas: the economics of intellectual property theft and the pricing of information transmission. Studying intellectual property theft, given its clandestine nature, requires processing large volumes of text. By extension, I am also interested in text processing methods, the statistical properties of text-based variables, and the relative advantages and disadvantages of AI/ML compared to simpler algorithms. I also integrate some of these findings into portfolio construction. I spent five years in the asset management industry and maintain an interest in applied topics relevant to the investment sector.
